The holiday season has arrived and Downtown DeKalb is ready. Hollydays will begin this weekend, November 16th, 17th & 18th with the Downtown merchants hosting their holiday open houses. Friday, November 16h select stores will stay open until 9:00 p.m. to offer a sneak peek of their holiday sales. Stores will be full of fun holiday items and great gift ideas as well as special sales and incentives all weekend long.
Put it on your calendar to help welcome Santa to town on Thursday, November 29th. The evening begins with cookies, cocoa and caroling at the Egyptian Theatre at 6:00pm. Then watch for Santa’s arrival at 7:00pm. Kids will have the opportunity to visit with Santa in his house on the corner of 2nd and Locust in the Van Buer Plaza until 8:00pm that evening. Take a complimentary horse drawn carriage ride Saturdays in December from 11am-2pm. Carriage rides will depart from The DeKalb Public Library on South 3rd Street. Bring the Kids Downtown DeKalb to visit with Santa in his house located in the Van Buer Plaza on the corner of 2nd and Locust. Santa’s house will be open for visitors Saturdays in December from 11am-2pm. Don’t forget to bring your camera, pictures are encouraged.
