Bob Brown, left the coal business to open Brown’s Corner Market in Sycamore in 1945. Still in the family after 65 years and now run by Bob’s grandson, Dan Brown in Sycamore, and granddaughter Roberta Brown Smith in Genoa, Brown’s County Market is still going strong. Over the years, Brown’s survived break-ins, bomb threats and meat cutter strikes but the main thing is, it’s held up to and changed with the times.
“We’re probably most noted for our service. We’ve always treated customers the way we want to be treated. We do so many things our competitors won’t do. We make just about anything in our deli, we do special cuts of meat, we do a tremendous amount of special orders,” Dan Brown said.
Brown’s County Market’s website features it’s new Sales Flyer online every week so shoppers can plan ahead. New reciepes are included each week in the Sales Flyer offering some great culinary ideas for your shopping list. They offer a deli, fresh fruit and vegetables from the Chicago Produce Market, All American Angus beef, a seafood section, bakery, fresh-cut flowers, cards, videos and much more.
Brown’s County Market is now located in Sycamore and Genoa.
