Just about every dish tastes better with fresh herbs — and there’s no better way to get fresh herbs than to grow them yourself.
Growing a herb garden is a great way to have fresh herbs available for cooking all season long. Learn how to grow and cook with these herbs during a “Growing & Cooking Culinary Herbs” workshop offered by University of Illinois Extension.
Extension Horticulture Educator Candice Miller will provide instruction on what herbs grow best in our Northern Illinois gardens and the tools and techniques for growing a successful herb garden.
Extension Nutrition and Wellness Educator Marilyn Csernus will demonstrate how to prepare and enjoy your edible bounty. She will discuss herb/food combinations; have samples to taste and recipes to take home. Everyone is welcome!
Growing and Cooking Culinary Herbs will be held in DeKalb County at the DeKalb County Extension office, 1350 W. Prairie Dr. in Sycamore (Farm Bureau building) from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m this Tuesday, April 5th. The cost of this program is $5. If you need a reasonable accommodation to participate in this program, please contact the Extension office at 815-758-8194.
