Goodwill Industries of Northern Illinois is proud to announce that it has awarded Kishwaukee Community College $2,000 in scholarship funds that are targeted to assist persons with barriers to advance their education. Funds were raised from the Goodwill Diva Dress Sale and Fashion Show last April, enabling them to build a better future for themselves, their families, and the community as a whole. The scholarship funding is given to the Kishwaukee College Foundation, who oversees the award process for students.
“This scholarship program is a perfect match for Goodwill’s mission of helping individuals with barriers to achieve the dignity of work through advanced education at Kishwaukee Community College,” stated Sam Schmitz, President of Goodwill Industries of Northern Illinois. “
The Goodwill Diva Dress Sale and Fashion Show is held yearly and raises funds for scholarships at seven community colleges in Goodwill’s service area. The colleges who received scholarships are Kishwaukee Community College, as well as Rock Valley College, McHenry County College, Sauk Valley College, Blackhawk Technical College, Highland Community College, and Illinois Valley Community College. This is the 2nd year Goodwill has funded scholarships to Kishwaukee Community College.
Marshall Hayes, Director of Development for Kishwaukee College Foundation commented, “These types of scholarships that are targeted to students with disabilities have a huge impact on those who receive them. We really appreciate the support of Goodwill and their commitment to keeping quality education affordable and attainable for all of our students”.
