CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) DeKalb County will host its 13th Annual 50 Men Who Cook at Barsema Alumni & Visitors Center on the NIU campus this Saturday, August 12th from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM. 50 Men Who Cook is an annual fundraiser presented by Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital to benefit the abused and neglected children of DeKalb County and to raise funds to support the work of CASA’s volunteer advocates. Prominent men from DeKalb County will once again be cooking their favorite dishes for you to enjoy including appetizers, side dishes, entrees and desserts. The evening will include a sampling of all dishes, cash bar, entertainment and raffles.
Tickets are $40 or $60 for 2 if purchased before August 11. Tickets will be available at the door, at FNB Sycamore and DeKalb branch, Sycamore Chamber of Commerce, CASA office and Crum-Halsted Agency. CASA DeKalb County, Inc. (Court Appointed Special Advocate) is a non-profit organization which trains local residents as volunteer child advocates. These advocates are appointed by the DeKalb County Juvenile Court in cases involving children who have been abused or neglected by their parent or guardian.
The CASA volunteers are responsible for gathering information about a child’s case and advocating in court for the best interests of these children. CASA DeKalb County Inc. currently has 62 advocates who are representing over 200 DeKalb County children.
