This is for non-City of DeKalb residents. They encourage DeKalb residents to use Lakeshore Recycling’s E-Waste Service.
That’s why it is being done by the County Health Department

if Iâm not mistaken, City Of Dekalb residents, who use Lakeshore, have to pay a fee to have electronics picked up. So, why not use the freeservice on Saturday?

I have an old microwave that I need to have recycled, the curbside program does not except microwaves, so, the alternative is to bring it to the Dekalb airport on Saturday. The flyer says they except microwave ovens. You have to read the fine print. Too many rules

Electronic Waste (E-waste) Collection: Beginning in October 2018, LRS will collect E-Waste on the first full week of every month on the regularly scheduled pick-up day. E-Waste items include computer mice, monitors, computers, DVD players, fax machines, portable digital music players, printers, satellite receivers, scanners, televisions, video game consoles, and videocassette recorders. Smaller E-Waste items may be placed at the curb in a brown paper bag or a 24â x 24â x 24â or smaller cardboard box. Please mark the box as “E-waste”. E-waste should be separate from the garbage, recyclables, and yard waste containers so it is easy for the driver to identify. Residents with televisions and monitors weighing over 50 pounds or larger than 19 inches should contact LRS customer service department prior to the scheduled collection day.

Mike Hammett I read that. microwaves not accepted curbside. But can be taken to tomorrowâs collection at the airport

Mark Charvat It’s worth a shot! It doesn’t say that they won’t accept items from City of DeKalb residents. It just says they “encourage” them to use Lakeshore Recycling 🙂

Then why do we pay for it in our trash services? Should have kept the landscape dumpsters. Mark Charvat
