After getting grief from our readers about using 2013 flood pictures, this writer took the afternoon yesterday and drove around getting images from this year’s flood. Looked like Sycamore got the worst of it this time. Putting these images together this morning just as we are getting another belly-washer rain coming down again….

What bridge is that in the photos that is so close to being flooded?

This is sad but typical for Sycamore. My grandparents used to live in the mobile home park across from the golf course . I believe it was the summer of 1996 where it flooded so terribly, they had 3 feet of water IN their trailer(the entrance to their trailer was about 3-4 feet above the ground as it is) so that’s about 7 feet of water! The water was completely over the roadway, there at the golf course and also near the riverside pub on 23 just south of the middle school. That was the worst flooding I have seen in Sycamore at least in my lifetime.

Wish we could share this rain with the drought areas in California!!

Thanks for the shots! Going to ride my bike today and take the camera

btw.. does anyone have images of the ‘sinkhole’ we’ve heard about at North Grove Rd. and Rt. 23?

Sidewalk when I walked home from work Tues evening. Thought I could avoid getting my shoes soaked but it was already going across.
People or the weather are knocking the signs down saying path is closed. Do not walk on that area of the path. I walked on the side of 23 once I got to that part. Parents are allowing their kids to go near there. Please remind your kids to not ride their bikes through the water. I saw one kid fall off his bike this afternoon.
