Operation HerStory is teaming up with Honor Flight Chicago (HFC), Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), Illinois Joining Forces (IJF) and the Illinois Department of Veterans’ Affairs (IDVA) to create the first all-women senior veterans honor flight from Illinois to Washington, D.C., on October 7, 2020. This one-day trip will give the female veterans the opportunity to visit the war memorials built in their honor, including the Women in Military Service For America Memorial and the Vietnam Women’s Memorial while enjoying camaraderie and fellowship with other women veterans.
Operation HerStory is seeking women who served in any branch of the military during WWII, the Korean War, or the Vietnam War (or who served in the military between 1940 – 1975). You do not need to be a combat veteran or have served overseas to be eligible to take this flight. EVERYONE who served on active duty is deserving of this honor. This will be limited to the first 100 women who can sign up with the correct credentials.
This organization is looking for volunteers as well as donations to support the cause.
