Feeling alienated by consumer culture? Longing to use your hands for something other than emailing and online shopping? A growing subculture of makers and doers are sharing ideas, tools, and workspaces as they invent everything from robots to life hacks. Join Andrew Morrison, NIU alum and professor of physics and astronomy at Joliet Junior College and Russ Lankenau, co-founder and president of the Workshop 88 makerspace, to explore the Maker Movement and its learning through doing approach to STEM science, technology, engineering, and mathematics).
STEM Cafe’s are where adults can eat, drink and chat about the hottest research with STEM experts. This STEM Cafe will be held this Tuesday, February 24th from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at O’Leary’s Restaurant and Pub, 260 E. Lincoln Hwy. in downtown DeKalb. These events are free and open to the public. Food and drinks are available for purchase from the host restaurant.
