A federal judge denied a request by several owners of DeKalb and Sycamore area bars and restaurants to block added restrictions on indoor dining by Governor Pritzker.
State health officials said that the positivity rate in the Northwest Illinois region has been rising for more than a week and is currently near 8%. There as of Saturday bars and restaurants in this region will be closed for a limited number of days. This action means the end of indoor service at bars and restaurants. This does not affect drive up establishments.
“We are below the 8% mark and being punished by other countries not adhering to the required rules,” said Fatty’s Pub owner Jeff Dobie. “This could be the final straw for some of our local businesses.”
Today’s new coronavirus cases have reached 2,206 with 47 deaths.
“This ruling is not fair to the local pubs and restaurants,” commented local tourism promoter Michael Embrey. “Our positivity rate is around 6.6%, which is below the requirement.”
