This coming Saturday, April 16th, will be the one year anniversary commemoration of the April 9th, 2015 tornado that devastated the local town of Fairdale, Illinois. The public is welcome to come out and celebrate with the community beginning at 12:30pm this Saturday.
Having no established government of their own, the neighboring community of Kirkland, Il. immediately stepped up and helped coordinate the recovery effort after the tornado. The day Saturday will begin with a breakfast from 10:30 until noon for Fairdale residents and those First Responders from Kirkland.
The rest of the day’s event schedule is as follows:
12:30-1:00 Groundbreaking Ceremony for Habitat for Humanity new home start
1:00-2:00 Flag Raising Ceremony & Dedication of Memorial Bench at the park
2:00-3:15 Addresses by Dignitaries
3:15-3:20 Closing Greeting and Thank you by Pastor Carl Rasmussen
3:20-3:30 Distribution of Gifts and Kites
3:30 Kite Flying, cake and coffee
