Richard Lennox Gustafson and his wife Phyllis Lynette Phelphs Gustafson are two of the The “Etched in Stone” Annual Heritage Cemetery Walk will take place this Sunday, October 1 at 1:00 p.m.
“This is always one of our most popular programs,” explained Michelle Donahoe, Executive Director of the Sycamore History Museum. “The committee starts researching possible people six months in advance. There is a lot of behind the scenes work put into these presentations. The Cemetery Walk is always a great way to learn about little known stories in Sycamore’s history,” she continued.
This year, the story of several families are included: Thomas, “Dunner,” Henigan and his wife Marian C Strack Henigan; Sandra Lenschow; Richard James Eli Freeman, his wife Petranello Erming Rohde Gulartie Freeman, and their son Kenneth L. Freeman; Genevieve Marlene “Boots” Milton O’Brien Clarner; Albert Ray “Rabbit” Mathey, his wife Betty Ann Clarner Mathey, and their son Kelly Lee Mathey; Richard Lennox Gustafson and his wife Phyllis Lynette Phelphs Gustafson; and Dennis Keith White.
The Cemetery Walk will start at 1:00 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Sycamore, located at 901 S Cross St.. The program will begin at the mourning house. The suggested donation is $5 per person. For more information please call 815-895-5762 or visit sycamorehistory.org
