The ballots are in and Sycamore’s kids have spoken! To help name Sycamore’s new splashpad, the Sycamore Park District Board of Commissioners asked the experts, Sycamore’s kids, to choose their favorite of five recommended names. At its October meeting, the Board approved the name that received the most votes, Splash Fountain.
Thanks to all of the kids who casted their vote and for all of the administrators and faculty at Sycamore’s schools for helping make this!
“A total of 1,825 ballots went out to CUSD Elementary Schools, St. Mary’s Catholic School and Cornerstone Christian Academy, Kindergarten through fifth grade. Homeschool families were invited to stop by the Clubhouse to cast their votes. Students marked their top choice from five recommended names.
Michelle Schulz, Sycamore Park District Board Vice President says, “Community input has been the cornerstone of ACTION 2020. Through volunteer committees, community surveys and public meetings, the Board has heard from many residents about their needs and ideas for these new facilities. We thought that naming the splashpad was a great opportunity to continue this theme and engage Sycamore’s youth with the excitement of Sycamore’s first splashpad!”
Surrounded by native prairie landscapes, this zero-depth nature-themed water playground will be a safe and fun oasis for all ages to stay cool while interacting with each other and the wonderful world of water!
