DeKalb County Health Department has found a new vendor for Electronics Recycling, DeKalb County’s own DC Trash, and the Recycling events will resume the second week of July in Sandwich. The Recycling for the City of DeKalb has been cancelled for July because of the Holiday, but will resume Saturday, August 6th , 2016.
DC Trash will host the e-waste collection and will accept any items with a battery or a cord, except smoke detectors. Residents can recycle most electronics at no cost, with the following exceptions:
Computer Monitors $10.00/each
Televisions less than 19” $20.00/each
Televisions larger than 19” $30.00/each
1st Sat – DeKalb Grove and S. 4th St. 9-11 am 1st Saturday/month
2nd Sat. – Sandwich 750 Duvick Ave. 12:30-2:30 pm
3rd Sat – Sycamore 475 N. Cross St. 9-11 am
4th Sat (even numbered months only) Waterman – City Lot on Route 30 9-11 am

Yes. Due to EPA regulations, these devices can’t go in landfills. It’s costs money for companies to dispose of these items properly. Most counties in IL won’t pay for this. As consumers, it’s our responsibility now.
