El Jimador Mexican Grill will be taking part in a fundraiser for Tails Humane Society on Tuesday to help care for hundreds of homeless pets.
Any patron who dines-in, carries out or orders delivery all day and mentions the Tails fundraiser will have 20% of their bill donated to the Tails Humane Society, said Rosalie Trump, event manager for the humane society.
“One of the owners of El Jimador has been involved with Tails for a long time and reached out saying he’d like to do a fundraiser with us,” Trump said.
Proceeds will help Tails in their efforts to care for hundreds of homeless pets and aid in their adoption efforts, Trump said.
“We’re all big animal people,” said Ryan Gifford, a manager of El Jimador. “I think we have the only dog-friendly patio in town. Our hope is to do one or two of these local fundraisers every month. The four of us that own the restaurant, we’re all locals, so the philanthropy side of things is pretty important.”
This is the first kind of event for Tails since Noodles and Company hosted a dine-out fundraiser for the charity in February.
“We’re grateful for all the restaurants that do these kinds of fundraisers for non-profits in the area,” Trump said. “In a small way, our community members can all help out and support the charity that they want to.”
El Jimador, 260 E Lincoln Highway, will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on the day of the fundraiser.
The locally-owned restaurant will be running a similar fundraiser at the end of the month as well, in an effort to raise funds following the untimely deaths of two DeKalb County 911 dispatchers, Gifford said.
Tails Humane Society is also currently running a raffle in conjunction with Target. The winner of the “Luck of the Irish” drawing will receive a $500 Target gift card. The drawing is scheduled to take place on Saint Patrick’s Day, March 17.
