It’s Easter weekend and you can sure tell by our Local Events Calendar! There are Breakfasts with the Bunny, an Easter Train ride and tons of Easter Egg Hunts round DeKalb County. Below are the ones we could find (note, all listed here are on Saturday, March 31st):
In DeKalb, the Park District is hosting a Breakfast with the Bunny and Easter Egg Hunt from 9:00 AM TO 10:00 AM at Hopkins Park, 1403 Sycamore Road in DeKalb. See DeKalb Park District’s website for all the particulars. Register Here for the Breakfast or call 815-756-6306 with questions. Cost to attend the Breakfast is $7 per person (adults & kids 2 yrs+). This year, the cost for the Easter Egg Hunt is a donation to Safe Passage. Things they need are listed here and on the Park District’s website.
In Sycamore, your family can welcome the bunny to Sycamore and share a breakfast with family and friends at South Prairie School, 820 Bordon Ave.. Bring your camera for this great photo opportunity. Breakfast includes pancakes, sausage, eggs and juice. Each child takes home a special memento of the day, while supplies last. Advance Registration deadline is Thursday, March 29th at 4:30pm. Also, the Sycamore Police Department will be holding an Easter Egg Hunt from 10:00 am – 10:30 am at the Good Tymes Shelter, Sports Complex off Airport Rd. Meet the bunny and fill your basket at this free egg hunt for kids of all ages!
The Crossroads Community Church is also hosting a free community Egg Hunt event from 11:30 until 2:00 PM Saturday at their church at 150 Maplewood Dr. in Sycamore. There will be Egg Hunts for 3 and under as well as Pre-K to 5th grade. Over 30 local businesses are sponsoring the event in various ways by donating prizes and giveaways for adults and kids. They will have 10,000 eggs for kids to hunt plus 100 golden eggs to trade in for special prizes, fun fair games for kids, teens and adults and free food. And last but certainly not least Pictures with Minions & The Bunny! Visit their Facebook event page.
In Waterman, they always have lots of fun with the Waterman & Western Railroad’s Easter Bunny Train! It will run from 12:00 – 5:00pm with FREE Train Rides with the Easter Bunny! Professional photos will be available.
The Waterman Lions Club Easter Egg Hunt is scheduled from 11am to 1pm at the Indian Creek Middle School, 335 E. Garfield St., in Waterman. Fun for all ages. Learn more at the Village of Waterman’s website.
In Kirkland, the Kirkland Public Library will be sponsoring fun Easter stories read at 12:30 by Roxy Holtapp at the Hiawatha High School Football Field bleachers before the Lions Club Easter Egg Hunt. The Kirkland Lions Club will be having their Easter Egg Hunt at 1:00 at the Hiawatha football field bleachers.
In Malta, Plan to go to the Malta Easter Egg Hunt at Lions Park in Malta, 120 S 3rd St. beginning at 9:00 am. Bring the kids for pictures with the Easter Bunny and an exciting Easter egg hunt. There will be different areas for each age group, and special prize eggs. More information can be found at their Facebook event page.
In Shabbona, get in on the Easter Egg Hunt from 11:30am to 1:00pm at the Shabbona Fire Barn – 103 East Navaho Avenue, in Shabbona. There will be a free hot dog lunch and a visit from the Easter Bunny! The event is for children up to 5th grade, remember to bring your own baskets for collecting! This year, the Village Bible Church is teaming up with the Shabbona CEA and Fire Department for their Easter Egg Hunt.
