Like airplanes and fun? Pancakes and lots of planes too, will be at DeKalb Airport this Sunday, June 2 from 7AM – 11:00AM. This first weekend of June promises great aviation excitement at the DeKalb Taylor Municipal Airport. The local chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) will hold their annual pancake breakfast and it is always a fun morning. Assuming favorable weather, as many as a hundred airplanes will descend upon DeKalb’s airport and the general public is invited to join them!
EAA Chapter 241 meetings are held at 7:30PM on the second Monday of each month, preceded by refreshments at 6:30PM at the DeKalb Taylor Municipal Airport corporate hangers. Everyone with an aviation interest, pilots and non-pilots alike, are invited to attend.
“EAA Chapters are the local aviation families throughout the nation,” said Rose Ellen May, EAA Chapter 241 secretary. “We welcome anyone who sees something special every time an airplane flies overhead and wants to meet others who share that enthusiasm for the unique experience of flight. We have quite a few events scheduled for this summer. And we’ll kick off our season with a pancake breakfast on Sunday, June 2 at the DeKalb Taylor Municipal Airport. We have the best pancakes in town, add sausage and eggs, cooked to order, and you have a great breakfast for only $6. All proceeds benefit our Chapter programs: Young Eagle rallies – June 8 and August 17 and our annual scholarship to a local aspiring pilot. This year, we have an extra special treat for our guests – the American Biplane Fly-in will be held at the airport this same weekend. We’ll have lots of biplanes, Warbirds and general aviation aircraft flying overhead and on the ground. There will even be rides available for a fee. ”
EAA Chapters are the backbone of the international EAA organization, which has more than 170,000 members. The local organizations include general EAA Chapters as well as specialized chapters for vintage aircraft, warbird, ultralight and aerobatic flight enthusiasts.
