Several of the DeKalb County towns have downtown Trick-or-Treating or community Halloween parties coming up! Below are just a few of the events going on. Make sure you visit our Local Calendar of Events for a complete list of area events!
Sycamore
Kick-off Pumpkin Festival in downtown Sycamore during their Trick-or-Treating event this Wednesday, October 21st! Downtown businesses will hand out tasty treats from 4:30-6:00 p.m. Then families can make their way to the courthouse lawn for the giant cake cutting! Enjoy a Haunted Physics Lab at the Midwest Museum of Natural History with NIU STEM Outreach during the event for FREE!
Sandwich
Calling all ghosts and goblins! Join the Sandwich Chamber for their 6th Annual Haunted Halloween Walk in downtown Sandwich this Saturday, October 24 from noon to 2pm. Children and adults of all ages are invited to trick or treat at the downtown businesses. Trick or treaters are encouraged to begin their outing at the gazebo in Veterans Park (151 E Railroad St, Sandwich). The Chamber will be giving out treat bags and maps to anyone in costume.
In the evening, get in on Sandwich’s Harvest Moon Hayrides and Halloween Egg Hunt! Enjoy a family night of fall fun. Free hayrides, hot chocolate, cookies and a campfire are provided at Knights Park, 1001 N. Latham St. from 69-8pm. Join in for this Sandwich tradition!
The Halloween Egg Hunt begins after hayrides at 8:00pm Sharp! Wear your costume and bring a flashlight and container for your eggs. You will find sweet prizes at the park, in the DARK! Please stay behind the ropes and the flags until the hunt starts. Toddlers will go first and every few minutes they will send the next age group, ending with the oldest children (limit 12 yrs old). Limit 8 eggs per child please.
Genoa
The Genoa Park District is hosting Halloween Happenings at Kiernan Park, 500 N. Locust Street in Genoa this Saturday, Oct. 24th from 2-4pm. All are invited to enjoy this free family event featuring games, rides, food and much more. A costume contest will be held and awards will be given. Age groups for contest are: under 24 months (3pm), ages 2 – 4 (3:10pm), ages 5 – 7 (3:20), ages 8 – 10 (3:30) and age 11 and up (3:40pm). Concessions will be available for purchase.
DeKalb
Nestle and the DeKalb Chamber of Commerce present Spooktacular, a Downtown DeKalb Trick-or-Treating event on Saturday, October 31st, 2015 from 1:00-3:00pm. Bring the kids out for a safe, fun, trick-or-treating event. Kids will enjoy trick-or-treating at over 30 downtown businesses and make a spooky craft at the creepy craft shack located inside The House Café. New to the event this year; there will be a FREE 11:30 am showing of Hocus Pocus at the Egyptian Theatre!
