The DeKalb Police Department will be hosting a community forum for downtown DeKalb residents. The department is seeking input from residents on proposed changes to downtown parking, including more designated overnight parking for downtown residents with the addition of Plaza DeKalb (pictured above).
The meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at the DeKalb Public Library, 309 Oak St, in the Zimmerman Meeting Room from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Beverages and snacks will be provided.
Any residents who are unable to attend the downtown meeting are encouraged to complete the downtown resident survey online at the City’s website. Business owners and visitors who would like to provide input on downtown parking are also welcome to complete a survey on the City’s website.

I could not make the meeting. I am someone who pays for a parking but I live downtown. I hope they can come up with some overnight parking that makes sense so people donât have to walk A great distance trying to carry packages groceries etc.
Leslie Conklin … great comments
Not so great but corrected now. It can be dangerous walking several blocks with your arms for later at night.
I wonât be at the meeting but if DeKalb plans on dedicating spots to that building they had better be paid for!

This building should have been designed with basement parking for resident, so, as to not chew up valuable parking downtown.
