The DeKalb County Fair in Sandwich will be the entire weekend of September 8-12, 2021. Held annually since 1888, this historic county fair has been a source of fun and entertainment for generations of Illinoisans.
The fair is held annually from Wednesday through Sunday following Labor Day. This year’s dates are September 8-12. It’s one of the oldest county fairs in the country and an event that tens of thousands of people look forward to each year.
The DeKalb County Fair, better known as the Sandwich Fair, was established in 1888. It was first held in September of that year on 20 acres of land. As it enters its 133rd year, this county fair now spans across much of the 185 acres of the Sandwich Fairgrounds. Over the course of five days, visitors can enjoy an array of attractions, food (don’t forget to visit ‘Whitman’s Catering’ for some of the best sandwiches and spicy potato salad in the Midwest).
Vendors and exhibitors come to the Sandwich Fair from all over the Midwest to display their wares, and plenty of musicians spend the weekend here entertaining the crowds.
