The Kiwanis Club of DeKalb will be hosting a public forum for the four mayoral candidates for the city of DeKalb on Monday, February 6th at the DeKalb Elks Club, 209 S Annie Glidden Rd. in DeKalb. The forum is designed to encourage the public to become acquainted with the candidates and discover what their vision for DeKalb is, as well as their qualifications for office.
The four candidates in April’s election are community leader Jerry Smith, local businessman Michael Embrey, DeKalb County Board member Misty Haji-Sheikh and incumbent Mayor John Rey.
Each candidate will give a five- to 10-minute presentation, followed by a public question-and-answer segment. Forms will be available to submit questions, but participants must bring their own pens and pencils. Doors will open at 5:45 p.m. From 7 to 7:45 p.m., there will be an informal public roundtable discussion with the candidates.
