On Wednesday, June 11, 2025, the DeKalb Public Library Board of Trustees will convene for two meetings: a Special Board Meeting followed by the Regular Monthly Board Meeting. Both gatherings will provide the opportunity for public participation and decision-making on key matters affecting the library’s operations and facilities.
Special Board Meeting – 6:00 P.M.
The evening will begin with a Special Meeting at 6:00 p.m., held in the Library Main Entrance Vestibule, with a focus on building and grounds matters. The agenda includes:
- Opening with a call to order
- Allowance for any changes or additions to the agenda
- Public comment period
- A tour of the library’s building and grounds, intended to provide trustees with updated insight into the facility’s current condition and future needs
- Adjournment of the special session
This meeting underscores the Board’s ongoing commitment to maintaining and improving the physical space that serves the DeKalb community.
Regular Board Meeting – 6:30 P.M.
Immediately following the special meeting, the Board will reconvene in the Bilder Family Meeting Room for its regularly scheduled monthly session at 6:30 p.m. The agenda for the regular meeting is more extensive and includes:
- Public comments, communications, and announcements
- Approval of meeting minutes from March 12 and May 14, 2025
- Review of the May Director’s Report
- Discussion and action on several topics:
- Trustee education via a review of Chapter 6 of the Trustee Facts File
- Continued assessment of library performance against Chapter 6 of the Standards for Illinois Public Libraries
- Approval of AWE computer replacements to support youth learning and digital literacy
- Approval of RJ O’Neil’s evaporator coil replacement proposal, addressing building HVAC needs
Under the Finance section, the Board will:
- Approve the May 2025 monthly bills
- Review current financial reports
The agenda also includes a moment to formally thank Gary Vander Meer for his service on the Board, followed by any new business before the meeting concludes with adjournment.
