Kishwaukee College Student Center
Kishwaukee College invites all community members interested in exploring education at the college level to Discover KC on April 26 from 9:00a.m. to noon in the Student Center on campus. Tricia Wagner, Director of Adult Education at Kishwaukee College and a member of the Discover KC planning committee, stated, “This event is for anyone who is interested in pursuing a college education, from soon-to-be high school grads to adults who are returning to school. Kishwaukee College offers programs for everyone, whatever their plans. Discover KC is a great way for the community to see how we can help you achieve your goals!”
The event will have a fair-like atmosphere, with information on academic and student support programs available at the College as well as refreshments and activities. Wagner said, “We want people to feel comfortable bringing their families with them to Discover KC. If you want direct information, we have staff available to help you, but the day is also a great way for community members to come and enjoy our beautiful campus while they find out just how much we have to offer!” The event will include chair massages, door prizes, a tour of the greenhouse, and a raffle drawing for a three-credit hour tuition waiver.
The Transvac Bus in DeKalb and the LOTS bus from Rochelle will be operating special bus services for Discover KC. The Transvac Bus will pick up at the following points in DeKalb: 4th Street at Sunset Place at 9:00a.m.; 10th Street at Pleasant at 9:05a.m.; Ridge Drive at Amber Manor Apts at 9:10a.m.; Annie Glidden at Crane at 9:13a.m.; and Lincoln Highway at Gideon Crt Apts at 9:15a.m. The LOTS Bus will pick up in Rochelle at: Big R parking lot at 9:00a.m.; Stop-N-Go parking lot at 9:10a.m.; and May Mart parking lot (by Dollar General) at 9:20a.m. Both bus lines will depart Kishwaukee College at noon for return service.
Wagner noted, “Kishwaukee College offers a wide variety of programs, from courses that transfer smoothly to all public universities in Illinois as well as to most universities across the country to specific skill classes that help community members stay up-to-date in their current jobs to GED preparation and English as a Second Language classes. Kishwaukee truly is our local community college and we hope community members will come out to Discover KC!”
