Sandwich City Clerk, Denise Ii (pronounced e-e) is running as a Democratic candidate in the March 18th primary for DeKalb County Clerk & Recorder. Ii has been the City Clerk of Sandwich since her election in 2009, and prior to that she sat on the City’s Plan Commission since her appointment in 1997. She is also a Democrat election judge and the Election Official for the City of Sandwich. Ii has also served as a past President of the Sandwich Park District after her election as a commissioner. A lifelong resident of DeKalb County, Ii has extensive experience in the title insurance industry for nearly 30 years where she was manager for 14 years.
“The residents of DeKalb County deserve a County Clerk & Recorder who is both qualified and dedicated to the profession,” Ii explains as the reason for running, “This office is the repository for the vital records of DeKalb County that includes birth, death, and marriage certificates. The County Clerk also oversees the local election process, The responsibilities of County Clerk are complex, making my career experiences uniquely qualified for this important & demanding position.”
Ii concluded noting that she has experience with the budgetary process for municipalities, and is sensitive to the need to control spending. If elected, her first priority would be a smooth election process for the April, 2015 Consolidated Election.
Ii is married to Chris Hebden, a native of New Zealand. She raised four children, and played active rolls in the Boy Scouts, the Girl Scouts, and was past president of the Sandwich Band Association.
