This vacant lot belongs to the City of DeKalb, which means it belongs to us, the residents of DeKalb. And it is a mess. It has been an old auto salvage yard since 1941; now it is scattered with junk and is in disrepair. It is part of the South entrance to OUR city. WE need to clean it up, and WE can decide how to enhance the entrance to OUR hometown.
Please join your caring neighbors at 1151 S 4th Street in DeKalb on Saturday, April 27th starting at 9:30 a.m. Pitch in and be part of making a positive change. Should be fun. Bring gloves, and be prepared to get dirty. Dress for the weather conditions.
The City will have two trucks and two street department crew members will be volunteering their time. If you have battery operated drills and screws bring them. We will also be repairing the fence on the property.
Food and talk afterwards at Twins for those who care to stay and socialize and plan for the future of the Southside Prairie. I will buy your first drink.
Spread the word. Hope to see you there!
