The DeKalb Park District has embarked on a community awareness campaign for 2017 called “How Do YOU Play?”. The goal of the campaign is to encourage and celebrate the recreation opportunities available in DeKalb through Park District recreation programs, facilities, and parks.
“We really want to get the community thinking about how they can incorporate the recreation opportunities the Park District has to offer into a healthy, fun, and active lifestyle,” said Scott deOliveira, Superintendent of Marketing. “We found that sometimes people only associate the DeKalb Park District with one facility or activity such as Hopkins Pool or indoor soccer. The campaign is a way to communicate the variety of programs and park activities that can be enjoyed.”
The awareness campaign includes incorporating the colorful “How Do YOU Play?” logo into marketing materials, publishing stories about unique recreation programs, along with social media engagement using the hashtag #howdoyouplay. Program participants and park users are encouraged to include the hashtag when posting pictures of their recreation activities in a District program or park to their social media accounts. “When people share via social media their cool experiences in the Park District, it encourages others to get out there and be active,” said deOliveira.
