The DeKalb Citizens’ Environmental Commission is pleased to announce that it is now accepting nominations for the 2016 P.R.I.D.E. Awards (People Responsible for Improving DeKalb’s Environment Awards). P.R.I.D.E. Awards recognizing individuals are referred to as Jim Grosklags P.R.I.D.E. Awards in honor of James H. Grosklags, Ph.D., based on his long-term service to the community and his unwavering commitment to improving the environmental quality of DeKalb.
P.R.I.D.E. Awards recognize local residents, organizations, and/or businesses that have significantly improved the quality of life in DeKalb through projects, activities, or programs emphasizing resource conservation, energy efficiency, beautification, waste reduction, or similar environmental improvements. Those conducting projects or programs aimed at increasing public awareness and knowledge of specific environmental issues are also eligible for consideration for a P.R.I.D.E. Award.
This year marks the 24th anniversary of the P.R.I.D.E. Awards. The awards are sponsored by the Citizens’ Environmental Commission, a diverse group of community volunteers appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the City Council. Its main goal is to promote an increased awareness and understanding of environmental issues in DeKalb and recommend practical means for environmental improvement.
To nominate an individual, organization, or business in DeKalb for a P.R.I.D.E. Award, please visit the City of DeKalb website at www.cityofdekalb.com and complete the Nomination Form. Completed nominations may be sent by regular mail, email, fax, or hand delivered to:

The deadline for receipt of nominations is 3:00 p.m., October 26, 2016. All nominations will be reviewed by the Citizens’ Environmental Commission, which will make the final selections.
Awards will be presented by the Chair of the Commission at the DeKalb City Council in December of this year.
