Offering Girls Empowerment and The BOYS Groups
The DeKalb County Youth Service Bureau (YSB) is sponsoring a Girls Empowerment Group for young girls ages 10 through 14 on Mondays at 2:30 – 4:00pm. Today’s girls are facing new pressures due to social media and cyber bullying. The Girls Empowerment Group will assist girls in developing resilience in their own identities. A strength based approach helps girls identify and apply their power and voices as individuals and as a group. Topics include learning about self, connecting with others, exploring healthy living, and planning for what the future may bring.
For young boys the YSB has an unique program called BOYS (Building Our Youth Stronger) for ages 10 through 14 will be held on Tuesdays at 2:30 – 4:00pm. The group will cover a range of topics including leadership, respect and healthy relationships. BOYS focuses on understanding and breaking various stereotypes, and helps young adolescents develop a healthy identity.
YSB is located at 330 Grove St., DeKalb.
