In a special Press release, DeKalb County Sheriff Roger Scott announced his retirement, effective, June 23rd, 2021.
Sheriff Scott served as a DeKalb County Deputy from 1969 to 1985. He has served in the role of Sheriff from 1985 till 2021.
In his retirement announcement, Sheriff Scott said he leaves the department in good hands and that he is not leaving because of “the foolishness of the Democratic-led state legislature under the guise of ‘Police Reform’.” Scott feels the recent legislation endangers the public safety of ALL Illinois citizens and puts effective policing in jeopardy.
Chief Deputy Andy Sullivan will serve in the role of acting Sheriff until the DeKalb County Board can appoint a new Sheriff in August.
