The DeKalb County History Center (DCHC) was excited to receive a Grant from the DeKalb County Community Foundation. DCHC submitted a request to the Community Foundation Needs Grant program and was one of 20 proposals approved by the Community Foundation. The $75,000 grant will go towards a new building that will house the Sycamore History Museum, Joiner History Room, and serve all county historical organizations.
“We were very excited to hear that our application was approved. As we plan for the future, having the Community Foundation’s support means a great deal. There are many amazing nonprofits throughout DeKalb County and the grant process is very competitive. To have the Community Foundation’s commitment brings credibility to the project and will play an important role as the DeKalb County History Center continues to inspire curiosity in DeKalb County’s history,” explained Michelle Donahoe, DCHC Executive Director.
The DeKalb County History Center is planning to open their new facility in May 2019. The goal is to have it coincide with the grand opening of the traveling Smithsonian exhibit, “Crossroads: Change in Rural America.” For more information about DCHC visit dekalbcountyhistorycente
