The DeKalb County Community Foundation is excited to announce the creation of the Sycamore Lions Charities Jack Shrout Fund. The new agency fund provides support to the Sycamore Lions Charities to fulfill their mission.
The Sycamore Lions Club is dedicated to improving the quality of life for the handicapped, the poor, the sick and the aged. Its primary focus is blindness prevention and program support for visually impaired individuals. In addition to vision programs, the Sycamore Lions Club supports or sponsors scholarships, hearing programs, diabetes awareness, and a number of humanitarian, civic and charitable projects.
Jack Shrout was a dedicated Sycamore citizen and member of the Sycamore Lions Club for more than fifty years. He joined the Lions in 1957 and was active until the time of his death in 2012. Jack spent his entire working life as an employee at Sycamore High School and was a great supporter of the Sycamore School District.
“Jack Shrout’s gift is believed to be the first estate donation to the Sycamore Lions Club,” said Sycamore Lions member, Brian Bickner.
