Construction is underway at the new Facebook Data Center in DeKalb, and the DeKalb County Convention and Visitors Bureau is rolling out the welcome wagon. DCCVB representatives dropped by the 505-acre construction site to deliver welcome bags to members of the Mortenson construction team. The welcome bags included gift certificates, coupons, apparel and promotional items from a variety of DeKalb County businesses, including restaurants, hotels, Northern Illinois University and attractions. Construction of the DeKalb Data Center is expected to take at least two years to complete and could employ as many as 2,000 workers to during peak construction activity.
