The fifth day of March of each year shall be designated as the Day of the Horse, to be observed throughout the State as a day to encourage citizens to honor and celebrate the role of equines in the history and character of Illinois, and to recognize the benefits of the equine industry to the economy, agriculture, tourism, and quality of life in Illinois (5 ILCS 490/195).
Hendrik Stables in Genoa had an event scheduled for the Day of the Horse this year that they canceled due to forecasts of extremely cold weather. They will be hosting a “Touch a Horse” open house event on April 6, 2019.
Another horse-related event coming up is the “Trotting Out the Latest Fashions” fundraiser for HorsePower Therapeutic Riding in Maple Park. HorsePower provides horseback riding lessons to children and adults with disabilities.
The fashion show will take place on Friday, March 15, 2019 at the Baker Community Center in St. Charles, IL from 6:30 – 9:00 p.m.
