Beginning in late April, the DeKalb County Clerk’s office will begin accepting credit and debit cards as official payment options for most office fees and services. Additionally, customers of the office will be able to order Vital Records from the comfort of their own home – online.
The DeKalb County Clerk’s Office has partnered with VitalChek, a company that provides point of sale and online solutions for customers to purchase documents and services with the convenience of their credit and debit cards. Since taking office, the most common concern John Acardo has heard from residents frequenting the offices is “do we accept credit?” Acardo states, “I heard your concern and have acted.”
In addition to point of sale transactions, customers may pre-pay or process payment over the phone, or online for most vital records. This benefits customers in other states that have an interest in the County due to birth, marriage or death of a loved one.
For our local residents, this means better and more efficient services. Acardo believes that improving efficiency saves you, the taxpayer, time and money. He reports that the implementation of this system cost the County $0.00; however, a small transaction fee is assessed for each transaction. The DeKalb County Clerk and Recorders office will continue to accept all additional types of payment; e.g. Cash, check, money order, etc.
