First Ward Alderman and Mayoral Candidate David Jacobson has purchased the DeKalb Clinic main building property today at auction for approximately $100,000. Zoned Central Business District, Jacobson has not yet decided his final plans for the 38,000 square foot building and approximately 80 parking spots.
“I have been a huge proponent of the need for private investment in the downtown revitalization effort. What better way to show my commitment than to get involved as a downtown business owner myself. To me, it’s the perfect example of practicing what you preach” said Jacobson.
Owner of The Lincoln Inn in downtown DeKalb, Bill McMahon purchased the old A&P building for near $160,000.
Still undecided as to his plans for the building, McMahon stated, “The Lincoln Inn will stay where it is and stay open. I have been a downtown business person for the past 20 years and I believe the downtown is a great place to do business. For the price I paid for the property I know I can make some business work there, create jobs and pay taxes. I’m excited about this opportunity.”
