(DeKalb) – Pandora is a dedicated lighthouse keeper, but it’s a lonely job. So when she rescues Seabold the cat, she’s happy to have company. And then they rescue three little mice, and all of a sudden, the lighthouse isn’t lonely any more!
Lighthouse Family: The Storm is the DeKalb Public Library’s Bookworm Barbs book for November. Bookworm Barbs is our book club for students going into K-2. We read shorter chapter books with lots of pictures. Older first and second grade students may be able to read on their own, but the books also make a nice family read aloud, too.
Bookworm Barbs will meet on Thursday, November 20, at 4:00 p.m.
Is your child a little bit older and looking for a book club? Check out our BARB (Books Are Really Brilliant) Book Club for students in grades 3-5.
The little riders are a beloved part of the clock in Johanna’s Dutch town. When her father leaves, he tells Johanna to make sure they stay safe. But when the Nazis invade, can Johanna protect them?
The Little Riders is our BARB Book Club book this month. BARB (Books Are Really Brilliant) book club is for students in grades 3-5. At our meeting, we talk about the book, but that’s not all! We’ll also play a game and eat a fun snack inspired by the book.
BARB Book Club will meet on Thursday, November 20, at 5:00 p.m.
Pick up a copy of either book at the Children’s Department Desk while supplies last. Please register at dkpl.org for either book club, as space is limited. Book clubs will meet in the Story & Activity Room.
