The long-awaited Kenneth and Ellen Chessick Practice Center will soon be open. Join the NIU community for a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house this Saturday, October 26th from 11:30am until 2:00pm.
The goal in building the Chessick Practice Center was to create the best possible environment for NIU’s athletes to hone their skills, build camaraderie and develop into champions. With an indoor practice facility the teams will now have the ability to practice regardless of weather conditions.
Some of the many features of the building include full NCAA football playing field dimensions, artificial turf to exactly match the stadium surface, a four-lane sprint track, batting cages, a long jump pit, 120 yards of hitting space to allow golfers to track full flight and trajectory of ball and play observation windows into the practice room. Visit the Chessick Practice Center’s website to see a neat, detailed rendering video of both the outside and inside of the building.
Everyone is welcome to come and celebrate this great addition to the NIU campus. The Ribbon Cutting and Program will be held starting at 11:30am Saturday. Noon to 2 pm is the Chessick Practice Center Open House.
