May 3 is an exciting day in DeKalb County. Starting the day off at 12:01 a.m. is Give Local DeKalb County, a 24-hour giving day, supporting our local nonprofits serving DeKalb County. Near the end of the day, starting at dusk, the exterior of the Sycamore Train Depot will become a backdrop for a unique artistic light show. The historic walls of the DeKalb County Community Foundation will be lit up with the artistry of the NIU Time Arts Animation students.
The Artistic Light Show on May 3 is FREE and open to the public. Parking will be street parking in designated areas around the Sycamore Train Depot located at 475 DeKalb Avenue, Sycamore. Arrive by 8:30 p.m. for some interactive displays as we await the proper lighting for the light show to begin. Feel free to come early or hang out for a bit after the show to participate in Give Local DeKalb County!
The Light Show will showcase elements of DeKalb County history, local nonprofits, the DeKalb County Community Foundation, Fairdale – DeKalb County Long Term Recovery Corporation, and the unique ideas and artistry of the NIU students.
This free event is generously supported from the Speiser Family Foundation under the direction of Bart Woodstrup, NIU Assistant Professor, Time Arts M.F.A.
