Beer is one of the most popular beverages in the world and December 10th is designated “National Lager Day.” Lagers use a cold-conditioning process that produces a light and refreshing beer. Most lagers are also distinguished by the specific type of “bottom fermenting” yeast brewers use that ferments at cold temperatures. Lagers can be classified as either pale, amber or dark.
To celebrate #NationalLagerDay, head to your favorite pub tonight. Maybe even use a cold lager to wash down a special meal, like the December Burger of the Month (pictured above) at PJ’s Courthouse Tavern in Syamore (“Christmas in Philly Burger” – 1/2 pound char grilled patty, topped with grilled onions, green pepper, and house made smoked provolone cheese sauce, served on Italian panini bread).
If you’re out near Malta or want to try a great new place, check out Remington’s Gastropub. (Food item pictured: Maplewood Ham, whipped Brie & Smoked Gouda Sammie on a Pretzel Roll.)
Or perhaps you’re in the mood to enjoy your lager in a little more upscale setting. Give Elwood Steak and Fish House in DeKalb a try!
