Children’s Community Theater (CCT) of DeKalb is tickled pink to present “Legally Blonde the Musical” as the next production in its 2012 season. Having won over audiences across the nation, Elle, Bruiser and friends will make their northern Illinois debut for a limited engagement, opening Friday, June 29 through Sunday, July 1st.
“This hysterical musical is not only full of charm, but closely follows the original movie,” says Susan Webb, music director for the production. “I loved the movie, and the writers did a fantastic job infusing the script with memorable musical numbers.”
Based on the hit motion picture, “Legally Blonde the Musical” is a fresh and bubbly evening of musical fun, stylishly wrapped up in a smart pink bow! Elle Woods is the college sweetheart and homecoming queen who doesn’t take no for an answer. So when her boyfriend, Warner, dumps her for someone ‘serious’, Elle puts down the credit cards, hits the books, and heads for Harvard Law School. Along the way, Elle proves that being true to yourself never goes out of style. This high-energy pop musical’s fun and catchy score features music and lyrics by Laurence O’Keefe and Nell Benjamin, and a hysterical book by Heather Hach.
“Legally Blonde” will be directed by Kris Pagoria, with choreography by Morgan Clott and music by Susan Webb.
Tickets for “Legally Blonde the Musical” are $12 for Advanced Seating and $10 for General Seating. Performances are at 7:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, June 29 & 30, with a 2:00 p.m. matinee scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, June 30 and July 1. The perfomance will take place at NIU’s O’Connell Theatre. NIU’s O’Connell Theater is located in the Stevens Building, off Carroll Drive.
