The Genoa Area Chamber of Commerce is partnering with the League of Women Voters of DeKalb County for a two-in-one event. On Thursday, October 27th beginning at 6:00 p.m., at Resource Bank at 310 Route 23 in Genoa, the Genoa Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a Meet and Greet event for county-wide candidates and candidates for the DeKalb County Board, 2nd District. That event will provide an excellent opportunity for voters to meet with the candidates directly.
Second, for the contested County Board 2nd District and the DeKalb County State’s Attorney races, there will be a candidates’ forum featuring questions from the audience beginning at 7:00 p.m. The League of Women Voters of DeKalb County is sponsoring the candidates’ forum. That event will be in the basement of Resource Bank, accessible via an elevator. Candidates in those contested races will be asked questions the audience writes. Audience members may submit questions at the door. Those wishing to submit questions should plan to write their questions at the door no later than 6:55 p.m.
There will also be information provided on initiatives appearing on the ballot.
All are welcome to attend, including those living outside Genoa who are interested in the State’s Attorney race. Those wishing to submit questions for candidates can increase their chances of their questions being chosen by keeping the questions short enough to fit on a 3 x 5 card and writing legibly. Audience members should also write questions that all candidates can answer, not questions directed only at one candidate personally. The League will provide other tips on how to write appropriate questions for candidates at the door. For more information, please e-mail: leagueofdekalbcounty@gmail.com.
