A new twist for the DeKalb Chamber of Commerce Candidate Night is its location. The event is Monday, March 16 from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Stage Coach Theater, 126 S. Fifth St. in DeKalb.
A meet and greet session with the candidates from 6 to 7 p.m. provides voters with the opportunity to ask candidates questions on a one on one basis. Candidates who are in contested races will participate in a question-and-answer session following the meet and greet.
Contested races in DeKalb include the 3rd ward (DeKalb City Council), Steve Kapitan and Michael A. Marquardt; the 5th ward, Michael Haji-Sheikh, Kate Noreiko and Cameron Zelaya; and the 7th Ward, Monica M. O’Leary and Craig S. Roman.
Admission is free.

Any plans for video?

I wish school board candidates were included. I am hearing they will not be included. This doesn’t help voters in determining who to vote for especially when the school district is the biggest taxing body on our property tax bill. Come on chamber, step up here.

Unfortunately, I don’t think we are really informed until they are in office. Before that it’s just words.
