Local DeKalb Pizza store Marcos is temporarily closed. This pizza restaurant is the 4th pizza location recently to close in the City of DeKalb, including Pizza Hut, Marcos, Rosatis, and Toppers.
According to business sources, Marcos may re-open under new management in the near future. Pizza Hut may also reopen in another location as take out-delivery only location.
Marcos was located at 435 East Lincoln Highway in DeKalb. DeKalb, home to the once-thriving Northern Illinois University campus used to have 12 + Pizza establishments that catered to the student population. The loss of 12,000 students and the addition of a variety of new food options (Beef Shack, Popeye’s, Sonic, Jamrah, Potbelly’s, Jersey Mike’s) has challenged the pizza restaurant market.
