With a donation of $100,000 to Leaf a Legacy, The Brian Bemis family of Brian Bemis Automotive Group has been given naming rights to the Sycamore Park District’s future dog park. It will be named the Brian Bemis Family Dog Park. Michelle Schulz, Sycamore Park District Board Vice President, says “We are incredibly thankful for Mr. Bemis’s thoughtfulness and generosity. We think he chose a great name. It signifies family and togetherness and that’s a major component to all ACTION 2020 projects – including Sycamore’s four-legged family members.” Brian and Renee Bemis will also donate a bronze German Sheppard statute sculpted by Renee to grace the entrance of the dog park.
On Saturday, December 3 the Bemis family gathered with Sycamore Park District Commissioners and staff for a ceremonial check presentation. The Brian Bemis Family Dog Park will be part of a new recreation campus on Airport Road across from the current Sport Complex. Other facilities on the site include the Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital Sled Hill, a community center and splashpad.
This past week, Leaf a Legacy surpassed the $800,000 mark on its way to a $1 million goal. An anonymous donor has given the Park District a deadline of 12/31/16 and will match 50% of all money raised before that date. Contributions may be made as a onetime gift or in increments over the span of up to five years. ACTION 2020: Community Center, Dog Park, Sled Hill, Splashpad, Trail Connections, Sports Complex Expansion, Golf Course Irrigation. Learn more at SycamoreParkDistrict.com.
