“The concerning uptick in Region 1’s positivity – jumping more than two percentage points in two weeks even as the majority of Illinois continues to see downward trends – demands increased efforts to stop the spread in our northwestern counties,” says Gov. Pritzker.
The action comes after the region’s test positivity rate went above eight percent.
While the Illinois Department of Public Health’s website shows two days at or about eight percent, a news release from the governor’s office says the region is seeing a seven-day rolling average test positivity rate of eight percent or above for three consecutive days. Three straight days of eight percent or higher trigger further restrictions.
Note: DeKalb County COVID-19 does not inclde COVID-19 cases at Northern Illinois University.
