UPDATE: 9/13/17 18.19: On the morning of September 13th, 2017, the DeKalb Police Department assisted the Sycamore Police Department in the search for Jeremy J. Jacobson, a 47 year old male, who was reported missing to the Sycamore Police Department on September 6th, 2017. A citizen, familiar with the missing person investigation, observed Jacobson’s bicycle in a wooded area off of the 3000 block of North First Street in DeKalb.
The Sycamore Police Department and DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department Canine Unit assisted in the search for Jacobson at which time a deceased male, was found nearby. The preliminary investigation has identified the deceased as Jeremy Jacobson and an autopsy has been scheduled for September 14 th , 2017. At this time, there appears to be no eminent public safety risk, however this information will be updated
subsequent to the autopsy results and further investigation.
The contents of this press release are based upon the best information available to the DeKalb Police Department. The statements regarding the conduct of any person identified above are allegations until affirmatively proven in Court. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
DeKalb Police have begun a death investigation today, after a body was found in the woods near the DeKalb Nature Trail, near the intersection of North First Street and Timber Trail.
City police and the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene some time before 9 a.m.. More details coming when released.
