The next concert at the beautiful Ellwood House Music at the Mansion series in DeKalb will take place Wednesday, July 10. This will be the “Blues at the Mansion” show featuring “Johnny and The Boomers.”
Born on the muddy banks of the Kishwaukee River, Johnny and The Boomers have been a benchmark of the DeKalb County and Northern Illinois blues sound for over a decade. They are a five-piece powerhouse, specializing in Chicago style blues and spanning the whole genre from Mississippi to Maxwell Street with a little rock ‘n roll seasoned to taste.
The main show starts at 7:00 p.m Please bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy the music.
The opening act will be Dave “DK” Kolars. Dave has performed for years in the Dekalb area as well as traveling the country with his solo act and playing with a variety of groups. Dave recently played a gig in Chicago at Wishbone North and this past February performed in Hawaii. The opening act starts at 6:30 p.m.
There will be refreshments available to purchase, including a nice selections of beers and wines by Fatty’s Pub and Grille in DeKalb. New this year will be a party pack of cheese, sausage and crackers for sale by Tom & Jerry’s Restaurant in Sycamore. This concert is sponsored by Claesson Carpet Cleaning.
These concerts are free and are very family friendly. Parking is available near the Ellwood Mansion as well as at the Clinton Rosette school and Congregational United Church of Christ parking lots.
The July 10 concert will honor local DeKalb County Organizations, the Elks Clubs and Moose Clubs. Music at the Mansion is sponsored in part by: Tom & Jerry’s in Sycamore, DeKalb Park District, Ellwood House Association, Daily Chronicle, WLBK/WSQR, FunME Events and others to be announced. All concerts are sponsored by local businesses, organizations and families to provide free entertainment and make DeKalb a little “Paradise in the Country.”
