Pardon the interruption…… but it sure would be nice if we didn’t have to have these special “once every so often” collections. Figure out a way we can throw stuff out on garbage day. Whether it’s a special bin or bag, or something. Why do we have to load up our vehicles only to wait in line to deposit this stuff. Seems silly. My $.02…….

Michelle Gibson, maybe things should be clarified that these collections are available to COUNTY residents, as this article took âresidentsâ to mean City of DeKalb residents since it is at the airport

The collections should be available to all County residents, not City of DeKalb only as noted in your article, Grace.

DeKalb County Online DeKalb County residents can bring any of the acceptable items to ANY of the Solid Waste collections, since they are funded by County funds.

Thanks for the clarification Christel! Made that change. That is great news!

I am now very confused. Are the events excluding Sycamore and Genoa residents as the article states?

Amy Reif Yes, as we understand it, Sycamore and Genoa have a contract with Waste Management ‘At Your Door’ program.

Amy Reif , as far as I understand the program (I am retired from coordinating the Solid Waste Program for the County), these collections are for any resident of the entire County

The collections previously held in various municipalities within the County were also available to ANY resident of the County. No limitations to where within the County you reside.

Michelle Gibson, there is a lot of confusion with this release…can you clarify?

According to the new flyer on the County’s website, residents of Sycamore and Genoa are excluded from both the 2 Electronics Recycling events. Would love to have clarification from Michelle though! Thanks Christel!

DeKalb County Online So I am in unincorporated Sycamore, with DC Trash as my provider… any idea if that means I would still go through Waste Management?

Christel Springmire Thanks. I guess Iâll have to call around and see what I can find out. Iâm in unincorporated Sycamore and DC Trash is my provider, so Iâm pretty sure this Waste Management program doesnât apply to me.

DeKalb County Online thanks for checking.

Amy Reif I am in the same boatâunincorporated Sycamore with DC Trash as my hauler. I am going to go to the County collections.
