Also we will be at the Turning Back Time Car Show in Sycamore this Sunday in the Hagerty Tent. We represent them for classic car insurance. For many years it was also known as the Fizz Ehrler Memorial Car Show. FIZZ EHRLER AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY SCHOLARSHIP is a memorial fund named for the longtime Sycamore businessman and car buff who died in January 2000 after a hard-fought battle with cancer. The yearly scholarship payout provides a Sycamore High School graduate support at Kishwaukee College.
Proceeds raised from the event are donated to local public and not-for-profit organizations, including the Sycamore Food Pantry, the Fizz Ehrler Scholarship, the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, Kishwaukee Cancer Center, and the Sycamore Police Department. The show, in its 14 years, has given away over $100,000.
Everyone that enters a car will get a free “Hagerty Bag” filled with goodies and also folks that visit our booth will receive a Hagerty Bag, goodies, be able to enter several free drawings for give aways, etc.
My son Michael and I are on the car show board and will be helping with all of the other volunteer board members and families to coordinate efforts and God willing, weather permitting, pull off a nice family event for all. All of the proceeds raised from this event go to local charities. Per Mike Tritle, Board Chairman – Over the past 10 years the show has raised over $100,000 for local charities.
The Car Show is a part of the Turning Back Time weekend in Sycamore, which also includes a Saturday evening “cruise night” parade of classic cars capping off a week of local Chamber of Commerce events as well.
Mike Tritle, the Boards Director stated that they average 25,000- 30,000 spectators and 1,200 car entries and 300+ motorcycle entries. Local media is present as well as area businesses and residents. They also have a fly over during the National Anthem and numerous constant mentions over the sound system during the show.
