Beth Fowler School of Dance to Put On Swan Lake and Wizard of Oz

The Beth Fowler Dance Company and School of Dance of Genoa and St. Charles is teaming up with Hall Associates Flying Effects as it prepares for its spring dance production of Wizard of Oz and Swan Lake to be performed at DeKalb’s Egyptian Theatre, 135 North Second Street, DeKalb Friday, March 6 at 7:00 p.m.; Saturday, March 7 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.; and Sunday, March 8 at 2:00 p.m. Each child’s ticket includes Meet and Greet with Dorothy and her friends after the performance! Parents, bring your cameras for the Meet and Greet!

Hall Associates Flying Effects has earned an excellent reputation nationally and internationally with both large and small productions. It has its roots in live theater productions such as Peter Pan and includes biblical dramas at the Sight and Sound Theaters in Branson, MO and Lancaster, PA.

The Well-known beloved classic The Wizard of Oz has been staged and choreographed by Beth Fowler featuring music from the 1939 movie. Hall Associates Flying Effects has been brought in to work with the dancers and crew to feature the flying witches and monkeys, Glinda’s flying bubble and other flying surprises, which Dorothy and her companions encounter on their trip down the Yellow Brick Road in search of the Wizard.

Featured Oz dancers are Lindsey Haugen, St. Charles, as Dorothy; Jenna Soldati, Geneva, as the Scarecrow; Hannah Whitten, Genoa, as the Tin Man; Mary Rose Fair, Sycamore, as the Cowardly Lion; Anna Raimondi, Genoa, and Brooke Fowler, Kingston, alternate as the Wicked Witch of the West; Haly Young, Genoa, and Rachel Olson, Genoa, alternate as Glinda the Good Witch.

The dance production opens with excerpts of the 19th century classical ballet Swan Lake performed to the beautiful music of Tchaikovsky. Featured Company dancers are Rachel Olson as the White Swan and Haly Young as the Black Swan.
